This web site is done with the intension of sharing one of my hobbies, strawbale houses. Strawbale houses and building has been an interest of mine for many years. Having recently purchased a small block of land with my partner we are now looking at extending our accommodation business, RiverSong Cottages and including a retreat and home for us. I am now more than ever consumed with ideas for building a strawbale house for us one day. The search for information, ideas and knowledge along with workshops is exciting and inspiring. Turning a dream into reality is a journey that has begun and will evolve in its own time with lots of learning and hopefully fun along the way.
My aim is to incorporate passive solar and eco principles
in the design and use of our site and building.
My research includes looking into options such as micro-hydro power, solar water
heating, recycled materials Greywater systems, composting toilet, rainwater
harvesting and use of renewable resources.
